Who would have thunk it?
A weeknight evening paddle south of Courtenay and 16 paddler's from Campbell River show up!!!!
An invitation was forwarded to the Comox Valley Paddle Club to join us...but no one showed.

The sky was slightly overcast and no wind made for rather comfortable conditions at launch time. The tide had been coming in, which was going to allow us to shoreline paddle.

We paddled the Wrecks and Breakwater first, then were disappointed that the usual Seal-laden logbooms on the other side were no longer there. While paddling north along the shoreline, a light shower started... On the return paddle the shower turned into rain...when a bolt of lighting flashed in the distance, we all headed as close to the shoreline as we could.
By the time we got back to the launch, it was near down-pour. In spite of the moisture, a good time was had by all...didn't see any frowns, or hear any complaints about the rain.
A HARDY BUNCH the CR Paddler's are!

Conditions did not allow us our planned post-paddle social of snacks and libations...we did however rendezvous at a Tim Horton's in Courtenay to dry out and for a hot beverage and some conversation.

It would appear the Comox crew don't like to get rained on...exercised local knowledge of weather patterns when deciding not to show up. There were comments targeting our missing Comox brethren by some of the intrepid CR crew...descriptors such as: 'Woosies'...'Tenderfoots'...'Wimps'...'Softies'...among the ones I could hear... Btw, I would never divulge who said those terrible things (Ted C), there is no possible way I would 'Rat' on any of my own Clubmates (Tom H)...good thing I'm an ethical person.

Editor's note: The views expressed above are solely those of Ken B. and are not shared by the rest (well most) of the Campbell River Paddlers. I think Ken is just envious of those cute little rolling boats that Trevor & Monica have.

Editor's note: Ted C sent me 17 pictures after I had posted this report. I chose 9, which are posted below. At some point in the future, I might cull some of the above pics if they are blurry or dark ... then again, I might just leave them.
