Group met at the Quadra Island Ferry for the 7:30 am sailing. We were very pleased that the Coffee Shop on Quadra was open for service at such an early hour. We purchased our much needed java and headed on our way to Dave and Sue's on Animal Farm Road.
We picked up Debbie and left Animal Farm Road at approx 9:30 to drive to the end of Surge Narrow Road. We carried our kayaks and gear down a very steep hill. The tide was coming in too quickly, and the current was too strong, to go by Peck Island, so we went and had fun playing in the currents near Sturt Island. Had lunch at a beach close by, then did a crossing to Surge Narrows store and followed the coast line and did a return crossing near Surge Point. Beautiful paddle with great paddlers.
Back to the Animal Farm for sharing of stories and adventures and a most awesome potluck dinner with wine. We even had a birthday cheer for Joan, who kindly did some improv to entertain us all. Quite a few laughs were had by all and then we called it an early night.
On Sunday morning the campers et al had a tour of Dave's Nimbus paddle work shop. Thanks Dave.
Next we were on the road in separate directions. Fellow campers went to Village Bay lakes to do a paddle with Dave and Sue. Joan, Gerry, Ron and I did a paddle out to Granite Bay and had lunch at the midden and it was beautiful.
Thanks Dave and Sue for organizing and hosting the Quadra campout and sharing your beautiful home and property. Thanks Tom for being the trip coordinator of the Surge Narrows paddle.
