A great day had by all on the D/H paddle. New boats and new friendships. Expected winds did not show up which made for a pleasant paddle instead of a workout.
Paddled over and played in the rock gardens at the south end of Denman. Skill stroked along the island and had lunch on the backside.
Crossed over and visited Fords Cove Marina on Hornby and then out and along the south end of the island we ran into fellow members Ron, Barbara, Barb R, Barb H and Darwin (on an Adventure Club trip). What a wonderful surprise to run into them.
Paddled along the south end of Hornby, and out to Norris Rocks which surprised us with a show from some sealions. They really put on an act for us. It really seemed as if they were waiting for an audience.
From there we returned to the rock gardens and did some strokes and rolls and Ken B surprised himself and us by knocking off a new roll called a Butterfly. It really did not look very pretty on him. I will never tell him that.
More social time occurred in the garden pool as we ran into Comox Doug, wonderful wife Penny and friends. More rolling, kayak talk and such and then Doug showed me a new rescue with a closer contact. Monkey see, Monkey do, so I got rescued by him to learn his technique.
Parted friends, paddled around the Chrome Island lighthouse and back to the launch. Had a very tasteful Fish and Chip dinner at the launch along with an appreciated long slow beer.
Life is still good..
