Group rendezvous'd at the Quadra Island ferry for the 08:30 sailing...brisk morning with overcast skies and little wind.
A mandatory stop at the Coffee Shop on Quadra to get our coffee's and baked goods and we were on our way to the Granite Bay launch.
In the water by 10:15 and headed out of Granite Bay and into Kanish Bay, followed the bottom of Kanish Bay around the corner to the entrance of Small Inlet.
Tom had to be assisted-rescued after tweaking his back practicing rolls and spilling into the water.
Once through the entrance we stopped for a quick stretch in newly christened Muddy Butt Bay in honour of a participant (who cannot be named) who fell twice in the mud;-)
Back in the boats we headed across to the north shore and paddled to the head of Small Inlet and beached the boats at around 12noon.
We took the trail and hiked from Small Inlet to Waiatt Bay to have lunch.
It was during lunch we experienced the cold piercing SE winds coming off Waiatt Bay.
The trail is in good shape there are a few trees blown over the trail.
We were back in Small Inlet and in the boats around 14:00; very little wind as Small Inlet is sheltered from SE winds; it started raining on our return.
We worked our way back out up the south shoreline.
We were back to the launch by 16:00, and easily made the 17:50 ferry back to CR.
A wonderful day with wonderful people.
Oh and...Tom got some cookies at lunch, which made him way more enjoyable to paddle with.
